Alpacas have been bred in South America for thousands of years. Vicugnas were first domesticated and bred into alpacas by the ancient tribes of the Andean highlands of Peru, Argentina, Chile and Bolivia. Two thousand-year-old Paracas textiles are thought to include alpaca fiber. Also known as “The Fiber of the Gods”, Alpaca was used to make clothing for royalty (wikipepdia).

This is a heavyweight wrap. It will not be soft righ away, but after a good wash and a short breaking in period the wrap will become soft, smooth and very moldable. The wrap will be soft enough for the newborns and will provide a great support for the toddlers. It is suggested for wrappers experienced in handling heavyweight wraps. The wrap will not be itchy after 2-3 washing rounds.

The wild yak lives on the Tibetan plateu, Pamir and slopes of Himalayas. The baby yak yarn comes from the undercoat of baby yak, a layer closest to the skin. Due to temperature flactuations the fur of the yak becomes warm, protective and temperature regulating.
